Ides Of Gemini veröffentlichen am 12.09. ihr zweites Album „Old World New Wave“.
Nach einigen Shows mit Old Man Gloom in den USA flog die Band nach Europa, um auf einer ausgiebigen Tour u.a. beim South Of Mainstream Festival mit The Obsessed oder beim holländischen Incubate Festival vor vollem Haus spielten. 2013 luden ihre Freunde (und Labelbosse) Neurosis Ides Of Gemini ein, sie im Henry Fonda Theater in Los Angeles zu supporten.
Danach stand eine einmonatige US Tour mit den schwedischen Maskenträgern von Ghost B.C. an. Die Tour wirbelte so viel Staub auf, dass eine danach erscheinende Record Store Day Special 7″ auf Magic Bullet Records dank massiver Nachfrage nachgepresst werden musste, bevor sie überhaupt erschienen war.
Zurück in LA spielte die Band noch zahlreiche Shows und teilte sich u,a. mit Deafheaven, Boris oder True Window die Bühnen.
Nun steht „Old World New Wave“ in den Startlöchern. Das Album wurde im Februar bei Valley Recording in Burbank, Kalifornien aufgenommen. Für den richtigen Sound sorgte dabei Chris Rakestraw, der auch bereits bei „Constantinople“ an den Reglern saß und vor allem für seine Arbeit mit Danzig bekannt ist. Für das Mastering holte man den Grammy-Gewinner Matt Hyde ins Boot, der unter anderem schon bei Slayer Hand anlegte. Das gesamte Artwork und Design blieb in der Hand der Band und wird von Schlagzeugerin Kelly Johnston-Gibson verantwortet.
Jason Bennett sagt über das neue Album: “The foundation for Old World New Wave was laid before Constantinople even came out.We had the title, most of the guitar tracks and basic arrangements in place at that point. We’ve been planning this record for a long time, so it’s incredibly rewarding—and a total relief—to finally have it out.”
