Das Label Kontor Records huldigt dem House-Genre nun, indem es seine neueste Ausgabe der gleichermaßen beliebten wie erfolgreichen Compilation-Reihe “Kontor Top Of The Clubs“ unter das Motto “The Ultimate House Collection“ stellt.

Auf dem 3-CD-Set sind viele wunderbare House-Klassiker versammelt, darunter “Beachball” (Nalin & Kane), “Sing It Back!” (Moloko), “King Of My Castle” (Wamdue Project), “Show Me Love” (Robin S.), “Turn Around“ (Phats & Small), “Lady (Hear Me Tonight)” (Modjo), “For You“ (The Disco Boys), “Free” (Ultra Nate), “Let`s Groove“ (George Morel) oder “I Believe” (Celvin Rotane).

Freuen darf man sich auch auf den 90er-Klassiker “Gypsy Woman (La Da Dee La Da Da)” (Crystal Waters), der hierzulande und in Großbritannien auf Platz 2 der offiziellen Single-Charts landete. In den USA schaffte der Track damals eine Notierung auf Platz 8 der offiziellen Billboard-Charts und wurde dort für mehr als 500.000 verkaufte Exemplare mit Gold ausgezeichnet.

Schon überrascht war ich, als ich mit Starsailor auf der Tracklist eine der erfolgreichsten Britpop-Bands entdeckte, und zwar mit ihrem großen Hit “Four To The Floor”, der hier im housigen Thin White Duke Mix erstrahlt.

Ein Wiederhören gibt es auch mit der Singer/Songwriterin Tori Amos, deren Song “Professional Widow“ hier im Remix von Armand Van Helden dargeboten wird und mit Bob Marley, dessen Gesang auf dem formidablen Funkstar De Luxe-Remake (UK#3 – 1999) seines Klassikers “Sun Is Shining“ zu hören ist.

“Kontor Top Of The Clubs – The Ultimate House Collection“ ist eine wirklich liebevoll zusammengestellte Hommage an das House-Genre, welches seine Ursprünge im Chicago der 80er Jahre hat.
