“Make Love Not War“ und “Love, Peace and Happiness“ sind nur zwei der Mottos, die das Lebensgefühl der Hippie-Jugendbewegung widerspiegeln, welche ihren Ausgangspunkt in den USA nahm. Vor allem in der Zeit von 1965 bis Anfang der Siebziger Jahre des 20. Jahrhunderts war die Subkultur der Hippies bzw. Blumenkinder sehr populär.
Diese Lebensart wird bis heute auf der Baleareninsel Ibiza gefeiert. So widmen sich auch immer wieder Mottopartys der sogenannten “Flower Power“-Bewegung.
Vom wunderschönen Strandrestaurant “Coco Beach Club Ibiza“, der 2014 sein zehnjähriges Bestehen feierte, wird nun in Kooperation mit dem Label Kontor Records die 2-CD-Compilation „Love, Peace & Flower Power“ präsentiert, die mit vielen musikalischen Pretiosen dieser Zeit das Lebensgefühl der gegenkulturellen Hippie-Bewegung wiederauferstehen lässt.
Einer der absoluten Trademark-Songs, was diese Jahre angeht, ist sicherlich “San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Flowers In Your Hair)“ von Scott McKenzie. 1967 landete die Hymne in zahlreichen Ländern Europas, darunter Deutschland, Österreich und Großbritannien auf Platz 1 der offiziellen Single-Charts und wurde bis heute weltweit über 7 Millionen mal verkauft. Natürlich ist diese John Phillips/Lou Adler-Produktion auf dem Sampler vertreten, ebenso wie Klassiker dieser Zeit wie “Son Of A Preacher Man“ (Dusty Springfield), “Ruby Tuesday“ (Melanie), “It Never Rains in Southern California“ (Albert Hammond), “Monday, Monday“ (The Mamas & The Papas), “Mrs. Robinson“ (Simon & Garfunkel), “Summer In The City“ (The Lovin‘ Spoonful), “Good Vibrations“ (The Beach Boys), “Atlantis“ (Donovan), “Blowin‘ In The Wind“ (Joan Baez), “In the Year 2525“ (Zager & Evans) oder “I’m A Believer“ (The Monkees).
