Nach seinem sehr erfolgreichen Album „False Idols“ (05.2013) veröffentlicht Tricky am 05.September 2014 via !K7 nun mit „Adrian Thaws“ bereits sein zweites Studioalbum auf seinem eigenen Label „False Idols“.

„Calling it Adrian Thaws is saying you don’t really know me“, erklärt Tricky den Titel seines 11. Albums. “So many times people have tried to put a finger on me and every album I go to a different place.”

„Adrian Thaws“ zeigt erneut viele verschiedene, manchmal widersprüchliche Facetten von Trickys´Persönlichkeit. “I can be anything I want when I do an album. I could be a woman, I could be a man. It’s great to be able to be all these different things.”

Tricky singt auf dem Album selbst, hat sich aber auch wieder Vocalgäste mitgebracht. So singt die irisch-italienische Sängerin Francesca Belmonte nicht nur auf der neuen Single „Nikotin Love“ – Trickys´ erstem vollwertigen House-Track – , sondern auf mehreren Songs.

“Fran can take an influence and make it her own”, sagt Tricky. Die deutsch-nigerianische Sängerin Nneka, die auch auf False Idols sang, performed den rauchigen HipHop-Blues „Keep Me In Your Shake“.

“She’s really easy to work with. I wish she was more well known. We need more women like that.” Es gibt auch neue Gesichter. Die britische Grime MC Bella Gotti (früher als Nolay bekannt) zeigt ihre aggressive Präsenz auf den harten Gangster-Hip-Hop-Tracks „Chronicle“ und „Why don´t you“.

“Her style is so aggressive,” sagt Tricky. “There’s nothing worse than weak hip hop. If I’m going to do it I want it to be intense.” Der US MC Mykki Blanco beeindruckte Tricky als support-act für seine letztjährigen Shows in Deutschland.

“I saw this dude in a mini-skirt and high heels and he was so aggressive on stage. Some of the crowd were like what the fuck? Imagine a big dude with a woman’s rage — that’s someone who can do some serious damage.”
